Notes on AGM & Breed Council meeting held on 19 April 2026

 

AGM

  • Representatives of all 6 Breed clubs attended the AGM of the BC at Greens Norton.
  • The accounts for the year ended 31 December 2025 were approved.
  • All Officers were re-elected en bloc.
  • An amended constitution to incorporate online banking arrangements was approved.
  • A constitution for the CTHWG (Cairn Terrier Health & Welfare Group) was approved.

 

Meeting

  • Representatives of all 6 Breed clubs attended the meeting of the BC at Greens Norton.
  • As the Cairn entry at Boston with no CC’s was excellent the meeting unanimously agreed to ask the Royal Kennel Club Limited to consider reallocating CC’s from Bournemouth to Boston Championship show.
  • The new Breed Historian, Linda Saich, has now received all the documentation from Ian Kettle and Ruth Parker Tucker. Linda asked that exhibitors, when winning a first CC with a Cairn, send a pedigree to her for the records.  In due a course a form will appear on the BC website.
  • A report on the Eye Testing session held at the CTA’s Championship Show last November was received and it was agreed that a session would be held in 2027 and arrangements would be made and announced in due course.
  • Linda Saich will produce a leaflet on Ocular Melanosis which will be distributed as widely as possible.
  • Mrs M Shopland resigned as Chair & Secretary of the CTHWG and a replacement will be announced as soon as possible.
  • The BEC (Breed Education Co Ordinator), Linda Firth, reported that a complete list of Mentors and Observers is now showing on the BC website.
  • A report on the successful BAD (Breed Appreciation Day), MCE (Multiple Choice Exam), POD (Points of A Dog) and the informal Hands On was received and the meeting agreed that a BAD and MCE would be organised for 2027. The date and venue will be announced as soon as possible.
  • It was agreed that the BC Judges Lists would no longer be kept as a complete list of all Cairn judges was available on the Royal Kennel Club Ltd’s “KCFind A Judge.”
  • The next meeting of the BC would be held on 24 October 2026.
