Representatives of all 6 Breed Clubs attended the Cairn Terrier Breed Council meeting on 5 October 2025.
1. Joint Cairn Terrier Clubs Cups & Trophies
Some items are still for sale and these will be auctioned in 2026 to tie in with the CTA Centenary in July.
2. Breed Club Supported Shows
Details of all supported shows are shown on the CTBC website.
3. New Treasurer
Mr C Petts was introduced as the new Treasurer and a change of bank was discussed. signatory changes applied for/in progress.
4. Cairn Terrier Health & Welfare Group
The representatives are Joan Percy (CTC), Jeanette Johnson (CTA), Linda Saich (Breed Health Co ordinator) & Karen Saich (SCTC), Julie Petts, Sarah Munday & Daphne Purvis (MCTC) & Maggie Shopland – Secretary & Chair (SW & WOE CTC).
Mrs C Roberts had resigned as Treasurer and a new Treasurer will be appointed in due course. A change of bank account was discussed.
5. Breed Education Co ordinator’s (Mrs L Firth) report
a) BAD at Jedburgh 8 November 2025 – 10 booked for Talk, 10 for Multiple Choice Exam, 13 for informal hands on & 4 for Points of A Dog.
b) Mentors – Chris Petts and Frances Goldfinch added.
c) Traditional Judging Lists – A Waites, D Pearson, J Ashe, J Miller & B Aubrey promoted to A1 List
d) 20 Mentoring sessions completed to date.
e) Reminder to all judges to ensure they are registered on KC Academy before 31 December 2025 otherwise they are not eligible to judge.
6. Breed Standard
This has been amended slightly (Fault Clause) by the Kennel Club and the correct version is now on the BC website.
7. Breed Council website
The administrator is Linda Firth with Julie Petts as deputy.
8. K C Gazette Feature on the Cairn Terrier (January 2026 issue)
This was discussed and the meeting informed of the progress to date.
9. Trimming Leaflet
It was agreed that this be published in time for Crufts 2026. Suitable photos would be needed.
10. Eye Testing at CTA show 16 November 2025
There are nearly 25 Cairns booked in.
11. Zoom Licences
The CTBC had sufficient Zoom licences for every club secretary. A guide will be done by Maxine Bennett.
