Ocular melanosis
Below is an email from Linda Saich (Breed Health Co-ordinator for Cairns). If you are interested in having some input into this health condition then please consider taking part in discussions and click on the link below for times and dates of the meeting,
Hello All,
I hope you’re doing well. I’ve just received an important update from the Kennel Club regarding ocular melanosis, and we need to act on this promptly. As many of you may know, ocular melanosis involves pigment changes in the eyes that can, in some cases, lead to more serious eye conditions. Given the potential implications for our breed, it’s critical that we stay ahead of this issue.
We need to circulate this information to everyone involved with the breed who can attend and provide their input. This is a matter of breed health and welfare, and the more input we have, the better.
I suggest we coordinate a meeting or discussion session where we can review the Kennel Club’s recommendations, as well as share any experiences or insights that might help us manage or monitor this condition effectively. We may also want to look into updating our screening procedures, so it’s important that as many members as possible participate.
